Meet Scott, Our Senior Care Employee of the Month

At A Place at Home, we take pride in our core values that make up our "We are CARE." philosophy.  CARE = Compassionate, Accountable, Respectful and Ethical. Each month, we identify an employee who personifies these values.

This month, we are proud to introduce you to Scott C.  Scott consistently provides our clients with amazing care and is always ready to go the extra mile to get the job done right. We're happy to let you get to know him a little bit more.

APH: Tell us about your certifications and future career aspirations.

SC: I got my CNA certification in 2005 and my Medication Aide certification in 2007.  I started nursing school in Arizona and plan to apply to Iowa Western Community College for nursing soon.

APH: What got you interested in caring for seniors?

SC: I've always been interested in the medical field, but had no interest in becoming a doctor. Nursing has always been my passion so I started as a CNA in a long term care facility to get experience and instantly knew that caring for the elderly was my calling.

APH: What do you like best about your job?

SC:  I love the connection I get with the people I care for and the gratitude they show. I love to hear their stories. I like the fact that I can make their day better and that they make my day better. It can be challenging sometimes, but also rewarding.

APH: What do you like to do when you are not working?

SC: When it's warm, I like to go fishing and camping. I also like to go bowling, watch Netflix and relax, attend my daughter's basketball games, and cooking and grilling.

APH: Do you have a family or pets?

SC: I have an 11-year-old son and a 9-year-old daughter.  I don't have any pets right now, but we are hoping to get a pug in the future.

APH: If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go and why?

SC: I've already been to Spain, France, Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Mexico.  The next place I'm really dying to go to is Ireland.  I am 3/4 Irish, and I'd love to expereince my ancestry and see the countryside.

Thank you Scott, for all you do for A Place at Home.  You are truly an asset to our team!
