Together with other community volunteers, they helped serve local veterans at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityofcarrollton.com\/departments\/departments-g-p\/parks-recreation\/facilities\/senior-center\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senior Center in Carrollton<\/a>, sharing food, conversation, and heartfelt appreciation.<\/p><p>For Mike and Madeline, Veterans Day is more than a date on the calendar. Many of the seniors they care for have served in the armed forces, or have spouses and loved ones who did. Being able to honor that sacrifice in a personal, face to face way reflects the heart behind their work as senior care providers.<\/p><h2>Serving Those Who Served Us<\/h2><p>The event at the Senior Center brought together veterans of different ages and branches of service. Small gestures such as offering a plate, refilling a drink, or helping someone to their table became simple but meaningful ways to say \u201cthank you for your service.\u201d<\/p><h2>Moments of Connection<\/h2><p>Beyond the food and festivities, the day was filled with stories. Veterans shared memories of their time in the service, the friendships they formed, and the challenges they faced when returning home.<\/p><p>Mike and Madeline listened, laughed, and sometimes teared up right alongside them. These conversations are a powerful reminder that behind every uniform is a person with a lifetime of experiences, someone\u2019s parent, grandparent, neighbor, or friend.<\/p><p>For many older veterans, loneliness can be as challenging as any physical health concern.
